Get involved
Whangārei Rape Crisis is built on community support. Whether you donate, volunteer, or join our Board, your involvement helps us stay here 24/7, advocate for change, and build a safer, more respectful future for everyone.

Donate
Your donation helps us stay here, 24/7. It helps fund our after-hours crisis line, which isn’t fully covered, and supports our vision of Whangārei as a community of consent — where safety, respect, and healing are possible for all. Every contribution strengthens our service and the people we support. Ways to donate:

Volunteer
We’re excited to host Whangārei’s first Festival of Consent, He Hapori Whakaae, during Rape Awareness Week, Monday 5 to Sunday 11 May. Through a series of events, we’ll promote the importance of consent in everyday life and connect with our community.
We need volunteers to help make it a success! Roles include distributing posters, supporting events, helping with our street appeal in Cameron Street Mall on Friday and Saturday, and spreading the message of consent.

Join our Board
Joining the Whangārei Rape Crisis Board is a meaningful way to contribute to a world free from sexual violence.
As a Board member, you’ll be part of a values-led team that upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ensures the organisation remains legally compliant, ethically grounded, and future-focused. We welcome those with governance experience and a commitment to equity and community wellbeing. Your insight will help guide the long-term vision and strengthen our ability to respond to the needs of those we serve.
